The Northern Territory Department of Education's School and System Improvement Unit (SSIU) has partnered with Evidence for Learning to map educational approaches in the Teaching & Learning Toolkit to their five focus areas, as part of the NT Education’s Strategy 2018-2022.

The Toolkit summarises the global evidence base on different approaches and their impact on students' learning. The Toolkit synthesises international and Australian research, summarised in terms of  the average impact on attainment, the strength of the evidence supporting them, and the cost to implement.

Use the links below to access Toolkit approaches mapped to each focus area.

Strategic focus areas

School leadership – leaders lift performance

Quality teaching – students learn to their potential

Differentiated support – tailored, evidence-based strategies to support schools and students

Community engagement – strong partnerships with students, parents the community and industry to inform our decisions

Data and accountability – systems inform and improve our performance

The five focus areas fit within a wider five step process of designing, implementing and evaluating school improvement efforts which can be thought of as elements of a potentially ongoing improvement cycle. Read further information about the School Leaderships cycle.
